Principal's Message

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward!

-Holy Bible

St. Stephen’s Hospital College of Nursing is the oldest Nursing institution in the country which started its journey in the year 1908. It belongs to St. Stephen’s Hospital which is our parent hospital. Established in the year 1885, our parent institution is one of the oldest hospitals in the country. It is a tertiary care super specialty health care institution with the motto ‘In Love Serve One Another.’ Initially the Nursing School started with ‘B’ Grade Nursing course which later on enhanced to ‘A’ Grade Diploma Course. In the year 2008, the School of Nursing was upgraded to College of Nursing and B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing was started. Currently, we have GNM, B.Sc. Nursing, M.Sc. Nursing & Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing programmes being offered in our College. The University Courses are run in affiliation with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and GNM is under the Delhi Nursing Council (DNC). All our Nursing programmes are duly recognized by Indian Nursing Council and DNC. Over the last more than a century, St. Stephen’s Hospital has succeeded in producing the finest nurses in the country. Many of them are employed in our Hospital & our Nursing College and a large number are working in Hospitals in various parts of the country as well as abroad. The students are provided rich clinical experience in the parent hospital and also public health training at our own Community Health Department at Sunder Nagari. Besides these, they are also sent for visits and postings to outside institutes as per the requirement of the curriculum. College life for our students is a blend of academics and extracurricular activities for an all- round development of their personality. The Alumni section is full of students’ experience in our College which is heartening to read and encouraging for us too.

I am grateful to our Director Dr. Sudhir C. Joseph for his dynamic and visionary leadership, for all the logistical & supportive activities for the growth of our College and taking this College to greater heights. The College faculty with the assistance of Doctors and senior Nursing staff from the Hospital all work together as a team to provide the best possible training to our students. Being an alumnus of this great institution, I endeavor to take this legacy forward and continue in our quest in maintaining the standards of Nursing education & training. Nursing in itself is a vocation per se and I laud my students for taking up this challenging yet satisfying career in this century old institution!

With Best Wishes,
